From the issue: “A modern steel span takes the place of the ancient foot bridge across the Salt River on U.S. Highway 60 north of Globe.” The accompanying story notes that the construction of this stretch of U.S. 60, from Globe to Show Low, “has provided many problems for all concerned and has required almost every type of road building equipment in popular use today.”
Was this a seasonal shot (with water running bank to bank) or did it tun that way in 1934?
I’m not sure about that but will try to find out!
I would be interested to know who surveyed this bridge any history on it, as my father was with the Arizona State Highway Dept. at that time. His name was Angus L. Chadwick. Any info would be appreciated on this or any other highway project.
