An important FYI from our friends at the U.S. Forest Service!
The U.S. Forest Service, along with Surface Contracting, will be conducting a pavement maintenance project on Forest Road 300 from the junction of State Highway 260 to the Forest Road 105 junction. The paving project will start tomorrow, June 19, and will last through mid-July. Work will be conducted Monday through Friday, with no construction taking place during weekend hours. During construction, flaggers will be used to guide vehicles through the work zone, and travelers should anticipate narrowed traffic lanes, reduced speed limits and delays of up to 15 minutes. The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests advise visitors to proceed with caution through work zones, slow down and be alert for construction personnel and equipment.
As a reminder, the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests are currently in Stage II Fire Restrictions which prohibits the following:
- Campfires, charcoal and other fires.
- Smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building.
- Fireworks and explosions, welding or other torches with open flames.
- Travel off designated roads and trails.
