Celebrating Our Centennial: Volunteer at Sanchez Camp

To celebrate Arizona Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month (AAHAM) and Arizona’s Statehood Centennial, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Safford Field Office is hosting a volunteer project and tour of the Sanchez Camp, which is probably the best-preserved Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Arizona.

Activities will take place this Saturday, March 10, with general cleanup around the site in the morning followed by the guided tour led by BLM archaeologist Dan McGrew. Participants should meet at the BLM Safford Field Office at 711 14th Avenue at 7:00 a.m. and bring a hat, water, sack lunch, sunscreen, and walking shoes. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended.

For more information or to sign up, contact McGrew at 928-348-4466 or dmcgrew@blm.gov.
