So the question was, which is your favorite image from our December issue… (you know, the issue with the 50 greatest photos ever taken. Period)? Well, it seems a lot of you loved Barry Goldwater’s iconic image, Navajo Herding Sheep in the Snow. The image was shot in January 1946 and ran on the December 1946 Cover.
What we all loved about this powerful photograph was that it really was this moment frozen in time. “Everything about this shot says ‘history’ — both the for the Navajos and for the magazine,” says Arizona Highways Photo Editor Jeff Kida.
Good stuff. If you haven’t yet checked out December… hurry up and pick up your copy ASAP!
