Unfortunately, those of us who love Arizona and the stories in Arizona Highways about the splendors and beauty of our beloved state already know and observe the tenets of Leave No Trace Ethics. I just wish those who disrespect the beauty of our deserts and mountains could be forced to commit these tenets to memory and sign an agreement to follow them before they are allowed to set foot in the places they currently despoil with their trash.

My father was born & raised in Globe in the 1920s & 30s. The Second World War shook things up, and he never lived there again. My last visit was as a boy in the early 1960s. I have a memory of us kids being scared to death as my father drove our Chrysler Imperial up a narrow & steep dirt road along the edge of a cliff. It would interesting to see what’s left of those early days.
