Tim Van Den Berg | Tucson

Tim Van Den Berg | Tucson

We sure love babies here at Arizona Highways… and in honor of Mother’s Day, this week’s theme is all about baby wildlife (and, in some cases, their mamas, too). As usual, we received several fantastic photographs — thanks to everyone who posted images to our Facebook page.

We hope you’ll share this week’s blog with your friends and family on social media.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Friday Fotos: Water… In All Its Forms

Alisha Johnson | Williams

Our theme this week was water — in all its forms. Though we received mostly images of water in its liquid state, the photographs are, nonetheless, beautiful. A huge thanks to everyone who shared their photos on our Facebook wall. Just so you know, we love seeing your work!

Enjoy.

Friday Fotos: Survival in Arizona

Tim Van Den Berg | Gilbert

We looked back in time to find this week’s theme: survival. If you are a devotee of our magazine, then you’ll remember the August 2011 issue. Our cover story was “Best of AZ: 33 things that are right with Arizona, including Flagstaff’s mountain air.” For this issue, the editors took a different approach to our “best of” issue.

“Instead of singling out the best place for bratwurst or the best fishing hole — specific things — we took a more general approach,” wrote Arizona Highways Editor Robert Stieve in his column. “It’s deeper, too. It’s about the things we take for granted. Things like sunsets, saguaros and the spectacle of 40,000 sandhill cranes lifting off in unison every morning from a wetland in Southeastern Arizona.”

So, yes, we’re paying tribute to one of our favorite issues — it was filled with some really beautiful photography — and we were curious to see how you would interpret this word.

Let’s just say we received several nice submissions.

Enjoy!

Friday Fotos: ESCAPE to Arizona

Bob Miller | Salt River

Bob Miller | Salt River

Every week, we come up with a Friday Fotos theme that we hope will allow you to showcase your wonderful photographs. This week, well, we played with “skyscapes,” “landscapes,” “skyscapes and landscapes,” “mountainscapes,” etc. Finally, we settled on “escape.” We were curious to see just how you would interpret “escape,” and once again, you shared some really spectacular images on our Facebook page. Thank you to everyone who shared, and congratulations to those who made the cut. We couldn’t do Friday Fotos without you.

P.S. If you have ideas for future FF themes, please let us know in the comments section or on Facebook.

Enjoy!
