We looked back in time to find this week’s theme: survival. If you are a devotee of our magazine, then you’ll remember the August 2011 issue. Our cover story was “Best of AZ: 33 things that are right with Arizona, including Flagstaff’s mountain air.” For this issue, the editors took a different approach to our “best of” issue.
“Instead of singling out the best place for bratwurst or the best fishing hole — specific things — we took a more general approach,” wrote Arizona Highways Editor Robert Stieve in his column. “It’s deeper, too. It’s about the things we take for granted. Things like sunsets, saguaros and the spectacle of 40,000 sandhill cranes lifting off in unison every morning from a wetland in Southeastern Arizona.”
So, yes, we’re paying tribute to one of our favorite issues — it was filled with some really beautiful photography — and we were curious to see how you would interpret this word.
Let’s just say we received several nice submissions.
Enjoy!
